Principal Investigator - Ope Owoyele
I’ve been an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana State University since August 2021. Before joining LSU, I was a Postdoctoral Appointee in the Computational Multi-Physics Research Section at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). Prior to this, I was a recipient of the ORISE postgraduate fellowship to perform research at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). I obtained my Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
At ANL, I received an Impact Argonne Award in the category of Innovation and a Postdoctoral Performance Award in the Engineering Research category. My work on developing a machine learning-genetic algorithm for rapid product design optimization received the R&D 100 Award.
My research interests lie at the intersection of numerical methods, data science, machine learning, and high-performance computing for design optimization and data-driven reduced-order modeling.

I am passionate about data analysis, CFD and computational simulation, energy modeling, programming, and mixing these fields.
Having worked as a simulation expert, energy modeler, data analyst, project manager, and team leader in several collaborative projects in both industry and academia, my ability to develop computational simulation of real-world problems, energy-focused data-driven models, explore professional analysis, and manage research groups has been significantly improved.
